After a project is created, you can update most of its details (including name, description, target date, permissions, and more) through the Project Settings panel. This article covers how to access and edit a project's settings, as well as a few fields that behave differently for Series Projects with existing child projects.
When to Edit Project Settings
Use Project Settings any time you need to update an existing project.
For example, you might adjust the target date, change who can access the project, update the default role for new members, or revise the description.
Open Project Settings
The Project Settings panel slides out from the right side of the screen.
- From the Projects page, open the project you'd like to edit.
- Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the project page.
- Select Project Settings.
Edit Project Details
In the Project Settings panel, you can update any of the following:
- Project Name: Rename the project.
- Description: Revise the context note for your team.
- Target Date: adjust the project's due date.
- Type: switch between Single and Series. (See the note below for Series Projects.)
- Frequency: change how often a series recurs. (Series Projects only. See note below.)
- Status: update the project's current status (e.g., Draft, Review, Approved, Published).
- Content Workflow: switch between Flexible (free edits) and Enforced (Draft → Review → Approved → Published).
- Who can access this project?: change the permission level (Private, Ministry Area, or Organization).
- Default role for organization members: update the role applied to everyone with visibility access (Viewer, Contributor, or Editor).
- Share with specific people: add, remove, or change the role of individuals.
- Project Owner: transfer ownership to another team member.
- Copy link to Project: generate a shareable link to the project.
- Tags: add or remove tags.
- When your edits are complete, click Save Changes.
Important: The Type and Frequency fields are locked once a Series Project has child projects. To change either of these, you'd need to delete the child projects first or create a new series with the desired settings.
Delete a Project
The Project Settings panel also includes a Delete Project option. Deleting a project is permanent and cannot be undone, including any generated content within it. For Series Projects, deletion may also affect child projects.
If you need to remove a project, scroll to the bottom of the Project Settings panel and select Delete Project.
